It’s intricate, ornate, floral and Japanese-inspired; perhaps everything you need from a sleeve tattoo and then some. The lines are solid, the colors are vibrant and the piece flows naturally as if each element is completely independent with each other–seamlessly telling a coherent story if taken in its entirety. It is a tight piece and I could imagine that it is something that is fun to do for the artist as well as the skin. Just a great sleeve tattoo overall.
19. Clock Eye Tattoo Sleeves

Next on the list of amazing sleeve tattoos is one of my personal favorites. A black and grey clock and eye inspired piece. I just love clock designs because they depict and underscore how important time is. It is the most precious commodity here on earth or perhaps the entire universe therefore it should be utilized wisely and most especially be immortalized in a tattoo. And the eye, well it is the window to the soul, need I say more? When black and grey tattoos are done right, they are unmatched as far as aesthetics and evoking reactions are concerned. This piece is no different. It is eye-catching as much as it is profoundly effective; just the kind of sleeve tattoo I want to have.

Another black and grey sleeve tattoo that’s one for the books. I know what you’re thinking; I’m a black and grey tattoo enthusiast anyway so the statement above might be a bit hyperbolic. But even so, this piece is remarkable in and of itself. The shading, lining and attention to detail is something to behold and perhaps aspire to. Each and every little minute detail is skillfully and beautifully tattooed that it almost pops right out of the skin–as if it’s a living and breathing piece of art. If this tattoo doesn’t catch your attention then we can never be friends. I kid of course! 🙂
17.The Trifecta of Sleeve Tattoos
Now I’m just showing my personal bias. Well, to be perfectly honest, I am not. What can I do? This sleeve tattoo is just undeniable. You want proof? Well, it has a clock, an eye and an angel; the trifecta of sleeve tattoos if you will. How can you ignore that? Plus technically speaking, the piece is masterfully executed with deft and precision. Every shade and lining is discernible and each disparate element is harmoniously put together so that the entire piece would make sense artistically and poetically. It is an expertly done sleeve tattoo with so much better story to tell. If those qualities won’t get you on this list, I don’t know what will.
16.Skull Warrior Sleeve
This Japanese-inspired skull warrior tattoo is so realistic that it seems as if the guy is wearing it (the design) instead of it being pierced into his own skin. Easier described than done and it takes an expert hand to achieve such illusion. The lining is exquisite and the shading is just out of this world. From top to bottom, this sleeve tattoo just screams perfection; from the raven to the skulls, armor plating to the samurais and then the snake; this skull warrior sleeve tattoo is morbidly poetic!
15.Alice in Wonderland Tattoo
You don’t need to be a fan of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ or to some extent ‘Johnny Depp’ to appreciate this sleeve tattoo. First of all, great utilization of space–no blanks and empty spaces. Secondly, the color saturation is skillfully implemented. The colors are vibrant and vivid that the tattoo looks so much more like a movie poster. Thirdly, the proverbial clock! Did I mention I’m obsessed with clocks? Oh well I already did. But you know what? With or without it, this sleeve tattoo can stand on its own. It’s that amazing!

I guess it’s a reoccurring theme now but it doesn’t mean that if the design is black and grey and it’s warrior-inspired, it automatically gets on the list. That’s not the case. If the sleeve tattoo is skillfully done as far as the aesthetics and context are concerned, it gets on the list regardless of where it came from or of what design specifications it might appear. This is a great tattoo whichever way you look at it and that is beyond contestation. Anything contradictory is an utter and complete lie! 🙂
13.Godlike Tattoo Sleeves
Whether it’s Zeus, Poseidon or any other Greek god imaginable is immaterial. My ignorance of the Greek mythology doesn’t diminish the fact that this sleeve tattoo is marvelous and for lack of a better word, heavenly! Yeah pun intended. Just take a closer look at this piece. Just wonderfully crafted contours on the face, very well-defined and exquisitely clean lines and the horse, it looks as if it’s galloping right out of the skin. It’s a technical and artistic masterpiece, truly a tattoo for the gods.

I don’t usually dig lion tattoos but when I do, it should come in a form of a fierce statue and it should be adorned with hibiscus flowers. Case in point: This intricate, almost lifelike Chinese guardian lion or Foo Dog sleeve tattoo. Why? Because I just do and because the hibiscus flowers somewhat underscore the fierceness of the lion statue. Both designs compliment each other because Foo Dogs signify protective powers while the hibiscus flowers mean beauty, loyalty and devotion. Everything that’s loyal, beautiful and devoted should be protected, hence the piece.

Whether you’re a fan of Japanese folk lore or not, this Oni mask sleeve tattoo is eye-catching. In Japanese folk lore, Oni is a demon that is linked to distressful emotions and evil acts and circumstances. It is the worst of the worst of all demons and is even believed to not only frighten away humans but also other evil spirits. Because of the descriptions written above, anyone who wears it should be a badass or at least thinks he/she is. It’s an insidious piece of art, something that’s right up my alley.

It’s a bird…Definitely not a plane…It’s a sleeve tattoo with wings! The lining of this piece is simply stunning, the shading, impeccable and the color saturation, ethereal. This tattoo is so light, so airy that it floats–like a feather being blown by the wind. Alright, I’d have to tone down my modifiers and metaphors for objectivity’s sake. I guess what I’m trying to say is: It is an amazing sleeve tattoo; nothing more, nothing less. There! Is that objective enough for you?
9.Maritime Tattoo Sleeves
There’s an awesome aspect about this sleeve tattoo that I can’t quite point my finger on. Maybe because it’s naturally free-flowing and organically mesmerizing. Or the fact that the lines are clean and well-defined. It could also be that the piece, in its entirety, represents a free spirit and an intrepid traveler. Alright, I’m an Aquarian so anything water or maritime-related fascinates me. Either way, this awesome sleeve tattoo is a real headturner—whether you’re looking directly at it or not. 🙂
8.Geometric Polynesian Tattoo
It’s part Polynesian, part tribal and perhaps partly geometric. The truth of the matter is that I don’t exactly know what it is. All I know is that it looks great and that’s more than enough reason to feature this sleeve tattoo on the list. I don’t need to point out how the lines and shading were masterfully done because I don’t want to keep repeating myself. The thing that makes this sleeve tattoo special are the black blots or smudges at the tips of what seem like diamond armor plating overlapped on top of each other. It’s neat, clean and tight–a solid sleeve tattoo through and through.
7.Trash Polka Sleeve Tattoo
It’s distinctive as much as it is stunning. Trash polka tattoos are in a class on their own. Using only two colors, namely black and red, this breakaway tattoo style incorporates kinetic designs, smudges and smears on top of realistic images to create a chaotically spellbinding artwork. And this piece, right here, is no exception. The elements in this sleeve tattoo might be discordant but they are strategically integrated together to form an artwork that not only stands out, it makes you want to think of having one yourself.
6.Japanese Inpired Sleeve Tattoo
It’s the quintessential Japanese tattoo design: Intricate, delicate, vibrant and downright stunning. Except for the star on the wrist, the elements like the koi fishes, flowers and geisha are completely and utterly Japanese-inspired. It might not be the most original design out there but what it lacks in originality, it more than makes up for the precise and masterful execution of elements. The color saturation and lining are out-of-sight. And the geisha and kois are very lifelike that you can’t simply take your eyes of off them.
5.Masquerade Sleeve Tattoo
Whether you are a fan of the Carnivale or simply want to reveal an alter ego that’s been bottled up inside of you, this masquerade mask sleeve tattoo is an elegant and sophisticated way of doing so. It’s mysterious, dramatic and fashionable and I’m not even describing the design itself yet. This piece is so ultra-realistic that it’s almost as hauntingly beautiful as the real thing. Almost because the real thing has a distinct smell in it. The blood red mask is the focal point of this piece and it is a real attention grabber. Tattoo sleeves.
4.Bio Mech Sleeve Tattoo
This bio mech is badass! From top to bottom, it doesn’t miss a bit. There’s not a single part or element that’s out of place. The way the skin has been ripped and the way the bones, flesh and mechanical set pieces are assimilated are simply mind-boggling. It’s another piece on the list that’s ultra-realistic. It’s as if you’ve met a real cyborg in the flesh or at least that’s how I imagine what a cybernetic organism would look like. This bio mech sleeve tattoo is not only badass but a convoluted one at that. And I mean that in the most amazing way possible. I could just imagine the number of man hours and the amount of sweat and blood it took to finish this piece–truly a labor of love in every sense of the word.
3.Bio Mech Sleeve Tattoo 2.0
It’s not a coincidence that two of the top five sleeve tattoos are bio mech inspired because when done right, bio mechanical tattoos are one of the most interesting and sensational styles there is. Just take a look at this tattoo. I mean, even with a magnifying glass, you can’t find flaws in it. The lines are extra clean and distinctive and the intricate details are masterfully and skillfully done that I can’t think of anything that can be compared to it. It’s simply unmatched and unparalleled–definitely one of the best tattoos I’ve seen ever!
One word amazing! Well scratch that, there are no words! The fact that I can’t find the right modifiers to use to describe this piece is is indicative of how magnificent this is. Where do I begin? The facial features and everything else in this tattoo are beyond almost anything that I’ve witnessed in my entire life. Everywhere you look is inimitable beauty. It doesn’t even matter that I don’t recognize who this is. My guess is that it’s a Greek god because only gods deserve such a heavenly artwork such as this one.
1.Skin Rip Bio Mech Tattoo
Wrapping up the countdown of the 20 most amazing sleeve tattoos is this skin rip, bio mechanical tattoo design. Why? Because this tattoo just kills! For one thing, skin rip and bio mech is a deadly combination. Plus the design itself is not too contrived and is just detailed enough to evoke profound emotions or reactions. Perhaps the most astonishing thing about this piece is the complexity of its elements. Such arrangement allow very little room for error. One inadvertent misstep and it could easily turn into a cheesy and almost amateurish rendition of a cybernetic organism. It’s perfect in every sense of the word; from the mechanical parts to the flesh. This sleeve tattoo is cognizant and dynamic that’s why it’s number one.
